C-AIS is a cooperative sea-communications system incorporated in SeaSight and based on AIS-VHF messaging, with optional IP transmission via SATCOM or HF links. Designed and deployed to localise and share maritime piracy threats, it also enables cooperative vessels to exchange hazard and danger information at sea.
C-AIS allows ships and surveillance systems to share security data associated with AIS and radar tracks, dangerous areas in the vicinity, and tracking data from HarbourSight, CoastSight, AirSight, SeaSight or compatible third-party systems. Operating with a very low bit-rate stream, below 2.2 kbits/s, it provides users with a simple surface situation while managing dynamic vessel networks, revocation of potential threats, key protection, receiver-side filtering and priority alerts to operators.
